The role of media after elections

The role of media after the elections has created some questions in the mind
of a common man which is very loyal to the country, despite of sufferings
caused by the elite and ruling class of this country. This is quite interesting
that the loyalty of most of these privileged persons enjoying all the benefits
from this country is questionable. The backbone of media; especially news
channels, are the journalists and anchor persons, which generally belong to the
middle and lower middle class. Instead of focusing the miseries of their class
and a common man, they are working for the interest of the politicians which
belong to the elite class, for the sake of earning a handful of money. Most of
these media persons are receiving multiple salaries from various parties,
persons and organizations (local or foreign) for a single job they are doing.
These heavy amounts are sufficient to burry their conscious very deep
and they have no shame in working against the interest of the peoples of
Pakistan. Most of the news channels especially “Geo” and “Aaj” are
emphasizing and giving more than 90% of the time to the restoration of
Judges. It seems that this is the only issue of people of Pakistan. The poor of this
Country are committing suicide and selling the kids due to the poverty. Most
of the persons are wasting a lot of their time in the long queues to buy ‘atta’
and get the other commodities for their family a bit cheaper. The dollar which
had been hanging around Rs.60 during the eight years of ‘Military dictatorship’
is reaching towards Rs. 70 within 2 months of democracy. The industry sector
and economy of Pakistan is suffering great losses due to load-shading. There is
a long list of wrongs which should be made right, on emergency basis, in each
and every sector of this country. But our media is focusing on the restoration
of judges only, and very shamefully, telling the people that all the problems
would be resolved as soon as Mr. Iftikhar Chaudhary takes the charge as if
the people of Pakistan were living in a heaven when he was chief justice.
It has not been a secret now that which politician or political party would be
the most beneficiary of this restoration. This restoration would be in the favor
of Mr. Nawaz Shareef who had very consistently and with a great patience
been investing in this project. This movement has never been in the interest
of common man or serving any interest of Pakistani nation. The actions taken
by Mr. Iftikhar chaudhary during his tenure due to which his admirers present
him as the” God of Justice” were merely against a certain group and in favor
of another group. None of the action had any concern with a common man.
Moreover, none of the decision was a golden example of justice. The only
characteristic of the decisions were that all of those were against the Government.
His admirers praise him for the reason which actually disqualifies him for this
honorable position. A judge should be impartial and make decisions without
being prejudice and if a judge is clearly against any person, party or section of
the people (might be a military dictator and his companions) is not suitable for
this honorable post.

The people condemning the present judges and presenting them as villains
for the reason that they have taken the oath on PCO betraying their colleagues,
should not forget that their hero has done it twice putting aside much honest
and reputable and less controversial persons. The people singing the song of
democracy should tell the common man of Pakistan that Mr. Iftikhar
Chaudhary was appointed a judge by a military dictator General Zia-ul-Haq
and promoted Chief Justice by another dictator General Pervez Musharraf.
It is not a secret that military dictators appoint and promote only the persons
of confidence. It is a separate issue that any of these appointee or promotee
goes against them for a greater interest and not only enjoy those interests but
become a “Masiha” of the nation in a short period. Such incidents happen
occasionally, in the history of nations causing a great loss to the nation.
Mr. Nawaz Shareef; with the help of some foreign organizations has been investing
on this movement since last 13 months and had purchased a lot of media persons
and journalists along with the lawyers to run this movement. This is the power of
Nawaz Shareef’s “Chamak” that Mr. Aitazaz Ehsan who passed his whole political
life as a PPP front line leader is now working against the interest of PPP and is a
tragedy of our political culture that he presents it as a heroic action. Pakistan is
passing through the period in which clever, selfish and opportunists become the hero
of the nation and selfless, faithful and hardworking people are
overwhelmingly condemned and our media is playing a vital role in this process.
